Coach Robert Myers Bio:
Coach Myers graduated from Lamar High School in 2009 where he wrestled and played baseball. He was a 2 time state placer in high school and has the most career wins in program history. He followed Lamar by attending and graduating The University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology and minor in Mathematics. Coach Myers started teaching & coaching in 2014 at South Grand Prairie HS where he had great success. He was the Regional & State Assistant Coach of the Year in 2014. In 2021, he was voted the Regional Head Coach of the Year. And in 2022, Coach Myers was voted the Regional & State Head 6A Coach of the year in the state of Texas. Coach Myers has coached 25+ state placers, multiple state champions, & multiple state team trophies. Coach Myers teaches Algebra 1 and takes pride in his teaching skills and building relationships with kids, students, and athletes. Coach Myers got married in 2014 to his high school sweetheart Meagan Myers and has two children, Chase and Callie. As a graduate of Lamar, Coach Myers loves the community and is eager every year to build Lamar Wrestling, grow Lamar students, and create successful and productive members of the community and society after their stint as a Lamar Viking. |
Coach Stephens
Coach Stephens graduated from Hellgate High School in Missoula, Montana as an All-State Athlete in Football and Wrestling. He then attended Western Montana College where he wrestled and played football for the Bulldogs. He was named an Honorable Mention All-American Athlete as well as being a member of 1994 NAIA National Semi-Finalists in Football. Coach Stephens also excelled in the classroom by being recognized as a Division I Football All-American Scholar Athlete in 1993 and 1994, graduating with Magna Cum Laude. After graduating from College, Coach Stephens moved to Texas and began his career as a High School Math Teacher. He has coached Baseball, Football, Softball, and Wrestling. However, he enjoys coaching wrestling more than any other sport. As a Coach in Fort Worth, he started the first wrestling program at Western Hills High School and led the Boys to two District Team Titles. Over his career, he has taken several athletes to the State Wrestling Tournament and has had the pleasure of coaching State Champions. His most recent accomplishments are leading his Lamar Ladies Wrestling Team to their District Titles Back to Back in 2021 and 2022. Additionally his Junior High Programs have been District Champs in 2018, 2019, and 2022. He was awarded the "Teacher of The Year" Award for the the 2015 school year and the AWARE Teacher Award for all of Arlington in 2016. In 2017, he was inducted into The University of Montana Western Football Hall of Fame. Coach Stephens is married to Monica Stephens and has one daughter, Hannah. |
Coach Shonte Roberts
Coach Roberts graduated from Newman Smith High school in 2008 and then attended Stephen F. Austin University. She graduated in 2013 with a B.A in History/Secondary Education. She first started coaching basketball and track at James Madison High School and teaching World History. Coach Roberts is in her 9th year of teaching and coaching and her 7th year at Lamar High School.
During her 1st year as an assistant wrestling Coach she was instrumental in helping two of our wrestlers qualify for state. During her tenure she has been part of the 2021 and 2022 District Champ Teams. She has also assisted in leading the Junior High Wrestling Teams at Shackelford and Nichols to a District Championships in 2018, 2019,and 2022
